BIBLIOTECA (2018)

 

La scrittura è una delle espressioni più alte di civiltà e di identità di un popolo. Con essa inizia la comunicazione sincronica e diacronica della civiltà umana. Biblioteca rappresenta un sistema in cui la scrittura si imprime investigando il rapporto dell’essere umano con l’invenzione della scrittura.

L’opera consiste in undici barre di legno dotate di quattro nastri magnetici per ogni lato inseriti in una fenditura all’interno del supporto ligneo, e accompagnate da uno "stilo" per la lettura e un sistema di amplificazione per ogni barra. Le barre sono disposte ad una distanza regolare tra loro e possono essere utilizzate contemporaneamente da più persone: il gesto interpretativo dell'individuo si fonderà con quello collettivo, creando un coro di voci e consonanze sonore, trasformando il luogo circostante in una contemporanea torre di Babele caduta. 88 sono le tracce incise, 2 i sensi di lettura, infinite le possibilità di interpretazione.  I suoni mutano e riproducono il testo inciso sul nastro seguendo l’andatura, il senso e la velocità del fruitore, che si vedrà costretto a ricercare il contenuto attraverso il suo gesto, rendendo l’idea della lettura come un’azione totalmente attiva. I contenuti delle quattro facce del supporto ligneo sono ignote e vengono svelate solo al passaggio dello stilo e dall’attenzione del fruitore.

Se la scrittura è un tentativo di riprodurre il parlato, allora con la registrazione della forma dell’onda del suono che riproduce il significante e non solo i concetti, il tempo e l’intonazione, si otterrà un “perfetto” modo di scrivere. La forma d’onda prodotta dalla voce è incorporata, incisa nel nastro magnetico. Nella traccia audio, invisibile, permane l’idea del solco, peculiare della scrittura cuneiforme.

Biblioteca (Library) represents a system in which writing is imprinted by investigating the relationship of the human being with the invention of writing. The work consists of eleven wooden bars equipped with four magnetic tapes on each side inserted into a groove inside the wooden support, and accompanied by a "stylus" for reading and an amplification system for each bar. The bars are positioned at a regular distance and can be used simultaneously by several people: the interpretative gesture of the individual will merge with the collective one, creating a chorus of voices and sound consonances, transforming the surrounding place into a contemporary tower of Babel fall. 88 engraved traces, 2 senses of reading, infinite possibilities of interpretation. The sounds change and reproduce the text recorded on the tape following the pace, direction and speed of the user, who will be forced to search for the content through his gesture, making the idea of ​​reading a totally active action. The contents of the four faces of the wooden support are unknown and are revealed only when the stylus passes and by the attention of the user. If writing is an attempt to reproduce speech, then by recording the waveform of the sound that reproduces the signifier, time and intonation, the result will be a "perfect" way of writing. The waveform produced by the voice is incorporated, engraved in the magnetic tape. In the invisible audio track remains the idea of ​​the groove, peculiar to cuneiform writing.
